To prevent sparingly used knives from getting rusty, wash and dry the blades thoroughly after use. Coat the surface with fat or lard and wrap well with paper before keeping away for next use. The blades will not rust. Clean your stainless steel tea / soup strainer by holding it directly on the flame for a while. Gently brush it before washing with a plastic brush (an old toothbrush would be ideal) using some scouring powder and soap. Then rinse well with water. The strainer will sparkle like a new one |
